A First for Niagara-on-the-Lake
The story of how Indian cuisine found its home in wine country.
Our Story
For fifteen years, Nittin and Anjna came to Niagara-on-the-Lake as tourists. They loved everything about it — the vineyards, the heritage streets, the slow pace of a town that takes its food seriously. But every time they sat down to eat, they noticed the same gap. NOTL had wonderful restaurants. What it didn't have was Indian food.
Not just any Indian food. The kind built from recipes grown up with in Delhi — homestyle cooking, made from memory, adjusted by instinct, and carried across an ocean without losing anything along the way.
On July 1, 2022, Aura on the Lake opened its doors. Nittin couldn't have done it without Anjna, who was beside him through every decision and every long night. And he couldn't have done it without his father — who showed up every single day to help open the place, lifting, running, solving problems, giving everything he had — even while quietly carrying pain that hadn't yet been diagnosed.
That kind of love is in the walls of this restaurant. You may not see it, but you'll feel it
What Matters To Us
🔥 Everything Fresh
Every dish is made to order. Delhi home cooking doesn't take shortcuts — and neither do we.
🌿 Everyone at the Table
Vegetarians, vegans, gluten-sensitive guests — Indian cuisine is naturally generous. We've built our menu so no one has to compromise.
🍷 Wine Country at Heart
We chose Niagara-on-the-Lake because we believed Indian food and Niagara wine were a pairing the region didn't know it needed yet. We still believe that.
Why Aura
Aura — the positive energy a person carries. The warmth that fills a room before anyone has even spoken.
That's what we wanted guests to feel the moment they walked in. Not a restaurant experience. A home experience, dressed up for company.
